Hallows Mass

Samhaim(summers end)
October 31
At Samhain, the Wicca say farewell to the God. This is a temporary farewell. He isn't wrapped in eternal darkness, but readies to be reborn of the Goddess at Yule. Samhain is a time of reflection, of looking back over the last year, of coming to terms with the one phenomenon of life over which we have no control - death. The Witch feel that on this night the separation between the physical and spiritual realities is thin. Witches remember their ancestors and all those who have gone before. Also agood time for Divination

Samhain - End of Summer - Festival of the dead.
Symbols - Pomegranates, pumpkins,apples
Colors - Red and Black.

Halloween actuyally spans days and represents the time of year that the veil is lifted between worlds. FOr Chrsitian this is the time that anscetors can look over us. It is a time to honor teh SAints and pray for the Souls of the dead as well as lost souls raoming. These Ceremonis and Rituals encompass the modern day events of tricker-treating and costume wearing, customs which date back to Pagan times.
Hallows Eve October 31   -When the veil is lifted and sprits roam free
AAll Saints Day November 1- A time to honor teh deceased Saints
All Souls Day November 2- a time to pray for  all Souls and ancestors. And aid all souls lost in the earth realms (was also for souls who came to visit on Hallows eve and ened up lost )
This is an exciting time of year, and the oldest known form of Ritual. THe CHristian Witch had many options. Often the season may start with the Feast of St. Frances of Assis  on OCtober 4 (see below)and carry on until Nov 2. This is great if you have children and really adds to the excitement of the season.
